How to Comment Multiple Lines in Python Using VSCode?

Estimated read time 1 min read

In Visual Studio Code (VSCode), you can comment multiple lines in Python using a keyboard shortcut. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Select the lines of code that you want to comment.
  2. Use the following keyboard shortcut based on your operating system:
    • Windows/Linux: Ctrl + / (slash)
    • Mac: ⌘ + / (slash)
Press the shortcut once, and it will comment out the selected lines by adding a # (hash) character at the beginning of each line.
  3. Press the same keyboard shortcut again to uncomment the lines and remove the # character from the beginning of each line.

This keyboard shortcut works in Python files and other supported programming languages in VSCode. It’s a convenient way to quickly comment or uncomment multiple lines of code without manually adding or removing the comment characters on each line.
