How to Use the IPython Online Compiler?

Estimated read time 2 min read

IPython is a popular interactive shell and Jupyter Notebook environment for Python programming. While there is no official online compiler for IPython, there are several online environments that allow you to write and run IPython code in your web browser.

Here’s how you can use one such online environment, “Try Jupyter”:

  1. Go to the Try Jupyter website: Open a web browser and navigate to the Try Jupyter website at https://jupyter.org/try.
  2. Select the “Classic Notebook” option: Click on the “Classic Notebook” button to launch the Jupyter Notebook environment in your web browser.
  3. Create a new notebook: In the Jupyter Notebook environment, click on the “New” button in the top-right corner and select “Python 3” to create a new notebook.
  4. Write and run IPython code: In the new notebook, you can write IPython code in the cells provided. To run a cell, click on the “Run” button or press Shift+Enter. The output of the code will be displayed below the cell.
  5. Save and share your work: You can save your work by clicking on the “Save” button in the top-left corner. You can also share your work with others by sharing the URL of your notebook.

Note that while the Try Jupyter environment is a convenient way to try out IPython code online, it may not be suitable for larger projects or data sets that require more computational resources. For such tasks, it’s recommended to use a local installation of IPython or a cloud-based Jupyter Notebook service such as Google Colab or Microsoft Azure Notebooks.
